![]() Baldo: The Guardian OwlsĪs you progress through the game you get introduced to the five main areas that you will spend a good majority of your time. While you’re able to give them names, classes, and faith’s you aren’t allowed to customize them as you see fit, which I found to be a little bit upsetting. Further down the line, you are given the chance to create your own party members to journey alongside. Some faiths obviously correlate with whatever class you decide upon but some are unique, where you can combo them wherever you see fit. ![]() Faith plays a role in giving you different stat boost and battle perks such as more health for your character/ party members, resistance to a status effect or debuff, or even more evasiveness so it’s harder for enemies to hit you in battle. Along with the decision of class you also are given the choice of faith to believe in. The adventurer blacksmith begins his journey!Īt the start of the game, you have a choice between five classes Fighter, archer, priest, wizard, and thief. With that being said, Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom doesn’t quite reach the heights of the Atelier franchise although it’s surely a noble effort that’s worth checking out, especially if you love retro-inspired games as much as I do. Going between gathering materials and fighting monsters in dungeons to organizing all of your treasures back at base in order to craft cool things, fulfill requests, and equip your party with swanky new gear is all very familiar. One thing that surprised me is how similarly Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom plays to the Atelier games which is one of my personal favourite game series ever. ![]() Now that I played it, I must say that some of these areas delivered the goods while others should have remained in the kiln a wee bit longer. After watching the trailer for Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom, I was intrigued by its seemingly expansive item creation mechanics, tactical-looking battle system, and dungeon crawling.
